Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations
How do you create effective publicity in an increasingly amateur world of musicians, artists, filmmakers, and entertainers, and cut through the clutter with professional targeted promotion? Learn how to exploit the traditional and emerging media and develop publicity strategies for film, television, music, and live theatrical events. Explore case histories (complete with anecdotes of industry-insider dos and don'ts) and examine the inner workings of the entertainment side of the public relations business. Learn how to conceptualize and plan public relations campaigns and marketing programs from beginning to end. This course includes in-class assignments, writing projects, and guest speakers.
Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: Two years of public relations/entertainment marketing experience, Public Relations Functions and Practices/X50.9640, or Entertainment Marketing/X50.9605.
