Get an introduction to the securities markets, the foundation upon which the study of finance is built. Learn the differences between stocks, bonds, commodities, futures, options, derivatives, and currencies. Topics include the history of capital markets and how they function; risk/return tradeoff; fundamental versus technical analysis; and contemporary investor attitudes, problems, and pitfalls. This course also lays the groundwork for the introductory course in portfolio management, Fundamentals of Portfolio Management.
