Gain an understanding of the portfolio, the structure within which financial assets are managed. This course introduces the forces and issues that have an impact on portfolio construction. Topics include investor objectives and constraints, asset allocation, importance of diversification, risk/reward tradeoffs, portfolio management styles (growth versus value), strategies for individuals versus institutions, choosing a money manager, and measuring performance.

Prerequisite: Introduction to the Markets/X51.9000 or the equivalent.
