Trade with, and investment in, China is an important topic of discussion for U.S. business. This course is designed to provide small and medium sized businesses with the tools they need to operate successfully in China. Topics include the legal environment and trends, impact of China's WTO membership, product sourcing and quality control, sales and marketing, method of operations, and intellectual property rights. Case studies of successful U.S. companies in the China market are presented. Emphasis is also placed on the role of and the need for cultural and historical understanding of the China market as a key to success. Students receive a brief introduction to the Chinese language.
