Get acquainted with the language Ruby and its application framework, Ruby on Rails. Learn the language itself, including objects and inheritance, exception handling, reflection and introspection, cooperative multi-threading, and garbage collection. Discover why everyone--from startups to huge e-commerce operations--is excited about object-oriented scripting in Ruby. Then build Web applications using Ruby on Rails as a classic Model-View-Controller (MVC) framework. See how Ruby objects interact with visual layouts, partials, and views. Construct interactive, data-driven applications as front ends for MySQL databases. Call Ruby's extensive library of AJAX functions to generate JavaScript code automatically.
