Explore emerging rules of state and local taxation in two major branches: personal income tax and corporate income and franchise tax. Topics include residency; constitutional issues, such as domicile and nexus; and the state audit process. Areas covered with respect to corporate income and franchise taxes include nexus and jurisdiction, treatment of pass-through entities, and unitary businesses and apportionment rules. The course highlights significant planning opportunities, including credits and other tax-reduction opportunities.
Prerequisites:
Federal Income Tax Planning for Individuals/X58.8002 or equilavent experience
