This course provides an introduction to not-for-profit (NFP) accounting and to governmental reporting requirements applicable to 501(c)(3) and other NFP entities. Coverage includes how NFPs are formed and the characteristics, terminology, structure, and regulatory reporting unique to NFP organizations. The role of the accounting department, accounting staff duties, and the structure of the NFP chart of accounts are covered, along with the introduction of NFP financial statements and their major components.
