Explore the legal and governance issues involved in the day-to-day operation of a 501(c)(3) organization from the perspective of the executive director, the board of directors, legal (internal and outside counsel), and staff members. The class format allows students to examine the range of legal issues from inception to dissolution of the organization--including fundraising and investment criteria, mission definition and parameters, and other control and governance issues.
