This course explores the historical, statutory, and administrative aspects governing immigration laws, including the varieties of immigrant status and corresponding processes to obtain such status; asylum and refugee law; grounds for arrest, detention, and removal of noncitizens living in the United States; and requirements for naturalization and citizenship. The course also addresses the interplay between immigration law and other areas of the law, including criminal, family, and public benefits law.
