Gain an overview of the debtor-creditor relationship with an emphasis on the individual and small business debtor. Review and analyze creditors' rights and remedies under state law, including attachment, wage garnishment, and other mechanisms for satisfying legal judgments. Corresponding debtors' protections, including consumer protection statutes, informal arrangements with creditors, and other strategies for avoiding bankruptcy are covered. An introduction to federal bankruptcy law as available and applicable to individuals and small businesses is provided.
