In this practical, hands-on course, you develop marketable proofreading skills you can put to use in the book publishing arena. Learn proofreader's marks and basic editorial skills, the role of the proofreader in the editing and production process, and the process of working with copy editors and designers. Topics also include proofing against a manuscript and working with a style sheet; cold proofing; proofreading responsibilities in an electronic environment; proofing on screen versus proofing on hard copy; and proofing electronically generated and scanned material.
