An understanding of the financial issues in book publishing is essential for those who want to succeed in the business. Using the profit-and-loss statement and the balance sheet as building blocks, this course examines the economic issues that influence decisions about book acquisitions, pricing, inventory, and marketing expenditures from both a macro (company-wide) and a micro (title-specific) perspective. Learn about cash flow and its impact, as well as other bottom line factors such as licensing and paperback timing and sales. This course is geared toward nonfinancial professionals, but a calculator is required.
