Architecture, Engineering, and Construction
In addition to reviewing the facade amendment, Local Law #11/98, and the new residential fire safety law, Local Law #10/99, this course examines New York City laws affecting design, construction, management, and maintenance of commercial and residential buildings. Distinguished guest lecturers discuss the background, history, requirements, significant additions, changes, and modifications of the various local laws. The course also reviews the requirements for compliance. Topics include Local Laws #10/80 (facade inspection); #10/81 (elevator inspection); #5/73 (fire safety, maintenance); #16/84 (fire safety, emergency lighting); #45/83 (sidewalk bridging); #76/85 (asbestos); and #58/57 (handicap).
