This course introduces students to the role of management in industries implementing, planning, and producing broadcast and interactive digital communications. This includes a wide variety of digital media sectors such as cable television, cinema production and distribution, music production and distribution, magazine, newspaper publishing, website production, and other new digital media. Students are introduced to the technological domains of the digital media industry (transmission, storage, interactivity, processing, capture, and design) through collaborative research and presentations designed to foster teamwork, as well as expertise. In addition, the course addresses major issues of concern to digital media management such as legal, security, performance measurements, and information policy issues relevant to managers working with digital media.
