Media Convergence and Production
Y19.2238 / Credit
This overview course focuses on technical issues and complements the more design-oriented Broadcast Design and Typography. The course addresses the designer, as well as the producer, in exploring pre-production, production, and postproduction workflow in different formats, across delivery platforms such as print, Web, TV, and film. Technical specs like formats, aspect ratios, and square and nonsquare pixels are addressed, as are conversions from different color spaces and design adaptation between work for television, Web, and print. Student work with still image programs (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop) and get a firsthand introduction to motion-based programs such as MacroMedia Flash, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects.
Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: Multimedia Graphic Design or basic Adobe Photoshop knowledge
