Y20.6241
Credit:
The Paul McGhee Division
Students learn to read various forms of literature with critical attention. They gain a working knowledge of the evolution and structural features of the major literary genres beginning with oral and epic forms, moving to classical and Shakespearean tragedy, as well as various poetic forms, the short story, and the novel. At the same time, students learn to do close, attentive textual analysis of style. As students become sensitive to the subtleties of literary language, they gain skills applicable to any situation requiring active listening, reading, or seeing.
