Northern Renaissance Art
Y23.5407 / Credit
The development of panel painting and its origins on the manuscript page are studied from the era of the aristocratic patrons of the arts to the time of the bourgeois collector. The works of Jan van Eyck, Roger van der Weyden, Durer, and Lucas Cranach are included in this course. Their works are studied in the context of the religious and social upheavals of the 15th and 16th centuries in northern Europe.
