In today?s economy, it is essential that HR professionals do a careful job of recruiting, selecting, developing and retaining talent. Beginning with an overview of the strategic needs of an organization, students explore topics that include, but are not limited to: thinking strategically about staffing issues, selection issues, developing internal talent, succession planning, integrating staffing activities with diversity and equal employment opportunity initiatives, employment tests, and successful employment interviewing. Lectures, assigned readings, case studies and student projects are used to explore effective staffing and retention initiatives. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate the ability to provide financial models for turnover and recruitment costs; the ability to use behavioral interviewing as a best practice; and the ability to formulate, develop and implement retention strategies with management
