Advanced Labor Relations and Employment Law

This course will allow students to specialize in the areas of law governing labor relations and employee rights in the workplace. Special topics will include: collective bargaining; union organizing; de-certification of the union; laws against discrimination; disability law; privacy; and employment litigation. Other subjects will include handling EEOC complaints, and working with legal counsel on the resolution of those complaints. Emphasis in this course will be placed on intensive coursework, external research, class presentations and case studies. Guest lecturers on specific legal topics will be used. This course will inculcate students with the advanced understanding and knowledge necessary to minimize legal exposure by advising an organization on a variety of legal issues.
