Persuasion activities are the focal point for advertising and public relations when influencing consumers? choices for those participating in sports and/or following and attending sports events. Billions of dollars are spent annually by the sports industry in an attempt to generate awareness, establish images, and attract visitors. This course explores the techniques and activities used to advertise and promote sports events. Topics to be discussed include: advertising awareness, brand awareness, message recall, campaign diagnostics, destination imagery, motivation, behavior, endorsements, promotions, naming strategies, licensing, sponsorship, media management, constructing the advertising message, and designing print campaigns.
