Maud Leclair began her career as a researcher in the Asian Art Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Specializing in Himalayan, South and Southeast Asian Art, she conducted research on the Met’s Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain art collection for acquisitions, publications, exhibitions, and gallery rotations. She contributed to the "Crowns of the Vajra Masters: Ritual Art of Nepal" exhibition, as well as a major exhibition on early Buddhist art: "Tree & Serpent: Early Buddhist Art in India, 200 BCE - 400 CE". Leclair has Master’s degrees in Art History from the Ecole du Louvre and Philosophy and Public Policy from La Sorbonne and Sciences Po. She teaches Himalayan, South and Southeast Asian Art at NYU SPS and at NYU's Department of Art History.
