MISSION
The mission of the Center for the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) is to provide a multi-disciplinary, collaborative platform to advance the practice of sustainability in the real estate and construction industries through applied research, education, and outreach.
Working closely with private and public sector partners, the SBE is tasked with the identification, analysis, and implementation of critical new technologies and policies that accelerate the adoption of sustainable real estate and construction practices. SBE strives to:
- Identify and remove economic, behavioral, and regulatory barriers to sustainable real estate development, design, and construction.
- Develop performance metrics, assessment tools, and analytical models to support real estate investment decision-making and the valuation of social and environmental impacts.
- Facilitate technological innovations from R&D to large-scale deployment in the real estate and construction industries.
- Develop international collaborations and expand knowledge in global best practices.
- Educate the future leaders in sustainable real estate and construction.
