The NYU REIT Center is pleased to announce its Thirteenth Annual Symposium focusing on issues
affecting the REIT industry. The annual NYU REIT Symposium provides a unique forum for
sophisticated, high-level discussion and has become a must-attend event for hundreds of senior
executives in the REIT industry.
Martin Cohen of Cohen & Steers will be the keynote speaker at the 2008 Symposium, and
William Mack (Apollo Real Estate Advisors),
Steven Roth (Vornado) and
Sam Zell (Equity Group) will participate again in Round III of their 'View from 10,000 Feet'
panel discussion. And, as always, Barry Vinocur will moderate an investor roundtable.
Topics to be covered at the 2008 Symposium will include an assessment of the deal environment;
strategies for financing deals given the constrained credit markets; the advantages and
disadvantages of strategic acquirors versus private equity buyers in the new environment;
globalization of the REIT vehicle and the implications for cross-border deals; and issues relating
to activist hedge funds and unwelcome suitors.
Over the years, the Symposium has attracted the best minds in the REIT and real estate
industries, and has provided an excellent barometer and crystal ball. The 2008 Symposium
promises to be no exception and has already attracted an extraordinary roster of confirmed
speakers. In light of the uncertain market conditions, insights to be gained at the Symposium
will be more valuable than ever.
