The management of student affairs is entrusted to the students themselves. All students registered in a degree program participate in the election of Student Council officers each April. Student Council Leaders work hard to improve student life at SCPS, by acting as an advocate for students to faculty and administration, by serving as an information resource to students, and by supporting student clubs.
SCPS has an undergraduate student government and a graduate student government that oversees all club activities, provides funding to the academic clubs, and advocates for student concerns to the NYU and SCPS administration.
The SCPS Graduate Student Council was founded in 2005 at NYU. The purpose of this governing organization shall be to represent all SCPS graduate students (certificate and masters) to the NYU Administration, to build a School community, to develop programs affecting student life, and to oversee and fund graduate student organizations. The Council welcomes new students at Orientation. Each Masters program has one representative voting on matters that impact all graduate programs, provides funding to the student clubs, and programs school-wide events.
