A commitment to community service is one of the cornerstones of New York University. Each year, hundreds of NYU students devote their time and energy to volunteer work. In addition to the satisfaction they receive from helping their neighbors, they also gain valuable work experience. Through NYU’s Office of Community Service, students work with dozens of not-for-profit organizations throughout New York City.
There are many ways to become involved in community service activities on and off campus. Students in SCPS have collected canned goods, conducted toy drives, distributed bag lunches to the homeless, worked in dropout prevention programs that encourage high school students to stay in school, and renovated houses for the poor. Student volunteers give of themselves freely, and all agree that they get back much more than they give.
SCPS also provides community service opportunities that are geared toward the industry-specific interests of its students. The Dean’s Registry, our community service program, serves to unite students, faculty, alumni, and staff through community service projects scheduled throughout the academic year.
