NEW YORK, September 13, 2018 – The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Schack Institute of Real Estate Urban Lab and the Center for American Entrepreneurship will host a discussion with top experts on “The Rise of Global Startups: Exploring Trends in Urban Venture Capital” on Tuesday, September 18, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
The geography of venture capital investment has shifted. While the United States continues to generate the majority of the world’s startup activity, other countries are quickly gaining ground. In the last seven years, venture capital investment increased by nearly 400 percent outside the US, while the US share of global venture capital investment fell, reaching a low of 30 percent in 2017.
During this half-day event, panelists will focus on what these trends indicate about the nature of startups and venture capital activity; whether venture capital has officially gone global; and what the policy implications are for the US and its cities.
