NYU School of Professional Studies Joins OneTen as a Talent Development Partner

The School will provide educational training to help Black Americans upskill in industries with strong opportunities for career growth and job placement.

NEW YORK, November 22, 2021 –  The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYU SPS), a global thought leader in workforce development that has provided industry focused higher education to students from the New York metropolitan area, across the country, and around the world, today announced its endorsement as a talent development partner by OneTen, a coalition of leading chief executives and their companies, committed to upskill, hire, and advance one million Black Americans into family-sustaining jobs over the next ten years.

As an endorsed OneTen talent development partner, NYU SPS becomes a talent pipeline for these companies that are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace. NYU SPS programs that will be a part of this new collaboration with OneTen will train job candidates in the areas of: Data Visualization, Full Stack Web Development, Software Development with Python, Agile Management, Human Capital Management, Project Management Fundamental Tools and Techniques, Corporate Finance, and Strategic Media Communications.

"We are incredibly excited to be named an endorsed talent developer for OneTen," an organization whose mission closely aligns with our own—providing access and opportunity to training and jobs that empower individuals to reach their full potential,” said Angie Kamath, dean of the NYU School of Professional Studies. "We are very much looking forward to working with OneTen to provide professionally focused education that affords new and innovative opportunities for Black talent in the US.”

For 87 years, NYU SPS has served the city and the world with educational programming that has provided equitable outcomes for generations of students who seek to launch or advance their careers and enrich their lives. Highly attuned to the needs of the workforce, the School offers academic programs in a broad array of emerging industries that require diverse talent pools.

"We’re thrilled to welcome as a coalition member the NYU School of Professional Studies, which shares our commitment to closing the opportunity gap for Black Americans. The programs included in this initial phase of our engagement draw on the School’s expertise in areas that can help open up pathways for family-sustaining careers for Black talent without four-year degrees,” said Maurice A. Jones, chief executive officer of OneTen.

The program will launch to coincide with the School’s roll out of its Spring 2022 continuing education offerings.
